Who Is Aaron Kirby?

Aaron Kirby is a lifelong Wisconsin resident, dedicated public servant, and family man who believes deeply in integrity, accountability, and service to others. He has been married to his wife, Amy, for 29 years. Together, they raised four children and are proud grandparents to two granddaughters, with another grandchild on the way. Family is the foundation of Aaron’s values and the driving force behind his commitment to serving the community.

Born in Stoughton, Wisconsin, Aaron moved to Wisconsin Dells in 1981 when his father transferred from the Edgerton Police Department to the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office. Growing up in the Dells, Aaron worked in local campgrounds and as a Duck driver in the Dells. These early experiences instilled in him a strong work ethic, personal responsibility, and a deep respect for the community he calls home.

Aaron dedicated 17 years to law enforcement, serving as a Jailer, Patrol Officer, Detective, and Patrol Sergeant. Throughout his career, he received extensive training in investigations, field training, ethics, and firearms instruction. His time on the front lines gave him firsthand knowledge of the challenges deputies face and shaped his belief that leadership must be present, accountable, and supportive.

In addition to his law enforcement service, Aaron has been involved in business ventures since high school. His business experience provided practical knowledge in managing employees, budgets, and organizational accountability—skills essential to leading a modern sheriff’s office. A sheriff’s office is a multi-million-dollar public institution, and Aaron is the only candidate with both extensive law enforcement experience and decades of business leadership.

Aaron’s commitment to ethical leadership was tested in 2012 when his position with the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was eliminated after he supported an opposition candidate for sheriff. He stood by his principles then, and he stands by them today. Aaron believes leadership requires courage, integrity, and the willingness to do what is right, regardless of pressure or personal consequence.

As Sheriff, Aaron will restore transparency, ethics, and accountability to the office. He will lead with humility, welcome appropriate oversight, support department employees, and work to rebuild morale throughout the Sheriff’s Office. Aaron believes the Sheriff’s Office exists to serve the people—not individual egos.

Aaron Kirby respectfully asks for your vote on August 11. Sauk County deserves independent leadership and a new direction built on integrity, accountability, and trust. Aaron is committed to serving the citizens of Sauk County—and answering only to them.
