My name is Jay Smith. I began my law enforcement career as a jailor with the Sauk County Sheriff's Department in 1989. After 32 years, I retired as a special agent with the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation.
I have known Aaron Kirby for more than 20 years, having the opportunity to work with Aaron on multiple criminal investigations while he served as a detective at the Sauk County Sheriff's Department. Throughout our work together, he consistently demonstrated strong investigative skills, professionalism, and a clear commitment to doing the job thoroughly and correctly.
During Aaron's law enforcement career - whether serving as a jailor, patrol officer, detective, or patrol sergeant - Aaron remained focused on assisting the citizens of Sauk County and making a positive difference. In addition to his law enforcement experience, he is a local business owner and has experience as a Dellona Town Supervisor; both of which provide perspectives useful as Sheriff. I support Aaron's candidacy for Sauk County Sheriff and ask you vote for him in the primary on August 11, 2026 and again on November 3, 2026.
